63 delegates from across the UK, embarked upon the first module of the SSEHV (Sathya Sai Education in Human Values) Course 1, Module 1, which was held on the 18th and 19th of June 2016 at Beaumanor Hall; a stately home with a park in the small village of Woodhouse on the edge of Charnwood forest, near the town of Loughborough in Leicestershire.

Human Values are the core of Sai Teachings that are both universal and practical in their applicability; their daily practise transforms the experience of human life on earth in a constant and profoundly positive manner.

Our life is like a block of ice which is melting away every moment. Before it spends itself, devote it to the service of others. Education in Human Values is designed to prepare everyone for this life of service.

Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 19, Ch. 5

Module 1 was delivered split as a two day course, and day 1 began with an introduction into Educare, which is the foundation for SSEHV. The day consisted of an in-depth discussion of each of the 5 Human Values spread across a series of workshops. Each topic encouraged an important and reflective study of the Values through quotations and examples from inspirational leaders and role models, past and present, highlighting the universal scope of SSEHV.  Day 2 concluded the exploration of the Values focusing on the applicability and practise in daily life. Course 1 was not only informative but gave everyone the opportunity to contemplate and internalise the true essence of Human Values.

In the spirit of ‘Our Life is His Message’, the course emphasised the importance of leading exemplary, value-integrated lives as a pre-requisite to the spread of human values and the establishment of happiness in human hearts in the world communities. It focused everyone’s attention on the tools that could be utilised to develop into such individuals and fulfil the great responsibility and opportunity invested in each one of us. ‘To Be, To Do, To See, To Tell’ (Sri Sathya Sai Baba – Sai Baba’s Mahavkya on Leadership / Education in Human Values)

We look forward to this exciting spiritual journey of self-transformation and its supreme ability to enhance co-operation and cohesion across the United Kingdom amidst its multi-cultural and diverse communities.
